Brian Westbrook owns fantasy football owners

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

If your a fantasy owner and you have Brian Westbrook on your team you were probably pulling your hair out when you saw him stop at the 1 yard line yesterday instead of getting the touchdown against the Cowboys yesterday.  I was actually on the other side of this though and it worked out for me. If Terrell Owens was to get 13 more yards I would have lost my semi-final round in the playoffs. Because of Westbrook I'm in the finals! I'm sure everyone else is not as pleased though.

LoL, check out there video:

NFL Week 15 Wrap: Patriots go to 14-0, Dolphins WIN A GAME?!?!

dgdff.jpgSpygate round 2 goes to the Patriots

So Tom Brady was ineffective in this game. He didn't need to be. For once the Patriots decided to run the ball, which they did effectively against the Jets on Sunday. This was the first game of the season that Brady didn't throw a touchdown but they were still able to pull a 20-10 victory of the Jets.

After the game, all eyes were at midfield where two coaches actually shook hands afterwards. These friends turned enemies didn't embrace for long. Bill Belichick wore a sly smile, while Eric Mangini looked sad like someone stole his lunch money.

Dolphins win?!?!!

The Dolphins blew it. They had a chance to go down in history. This would've been a team that people would have talked about forever. Now they are just any average 1 win team. No one will ever remember them.

The Dolphins beat the Ravens in overtime yesterday after Matt Stover missed a kick to win it. Matt Stover is usually money in overtime. He has gone 5/5 in his career so it usually means that if he is coming up to kick it, it's a wrap. Not this time though. After he missed it and the Dolphins got it back this is what happened:

Jags out-Steeler the Steelers

From the eyes of Steelers fans, Fred Taylor is a problem. In 2000 Fred Taylor set a record for an opposing running back against the Steelers by rushing for 234 yards. Yesterday he continued his abuse of the Steelers, rushing for 147 yards in their win over the Steelers.

This loss officially makes the Jags look like a contender while the Steelers are going in the opposite direction. They are now tied with the Browns in their division at 9-5 and anything can happen. They did win both games against the Brown this season but there are still games to be played. We will see how it all shakes out but this should be interesting in the final two weeks.

Around the league

  • The Washington Redskins' kept their playoff hopes alive and put a little doubt into the New York Giants' once seemingly certain road to the postseason. Clinton Portis ran for 126 yards and a touchdown and Todd Collins led the Redskins on five scoring drives in his first start in 10 years, outplaying Eli Manning in a 22-10 victory.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers left no doubt. The Chargers repeated as AFC West champions by beating the punchless Detroit Lions 51-14, their fourth straight win and eighth in 10 games.
  • Tony Romo's latest A-list girlfriend and his parents came to Texas Stadium to see the Dallas Cowboys play their final home game before the playoffs. They were treated to Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles beginning their last-gasp bid to get into the playoffs, too.
  • Oakland Raiders running back Justin Fargas was unable to celebrate his first 1,000-yard rushing season because he sprained his right knee shortly after reaching the milestone in Sunday's 21-14 loss to Indianapolis.
  • Micheal Spurlock started up the middle, cut to the outside and didn't stop running until making history for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs ran back a kickoff for a touchdown for the first time in the franchise's 32 seasons and routed the reeling Atlanta Falcons 37-3 to win the NFC South for the second time in three seasons.
  • A simple slant pattern gives Brett Favre the NFL record for all-time passing yardage as the Packers clinch a first-round playoff bye with a 33-14 victory over St. Louis.
  • Drew Brees caps a 315-yard day with a clutch, 22-yard completion to Billy Miller that allows the Saints to run out the clock in a 31-24 win over the Cardinals.
  • Vince Young passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns and Rob Bironas kicked four field goals in Tennessee's 26-17 victory in Kansas City, keeping the Titans in the wild-card playoff hunt.
  • Jamal Lewis rushed for 163 yards and Phil Dawson kicked two field goals in harsh, wintry winds as the Cleveland Browns improved their postseason chances with an 8-0 win over the Bills.
  • Rookie Matt Moore, the fourth Panthers starting quarterback this season, engineers three fourth-quarter scoring drives and the Panthers stun the Seahawks, 13-10.
  • Shaun Hill passed for 197 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score in his first N.F.L. start, and the San Francisco 49ers beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 20-13, Saturday night for only their second victory in 12 games.
  • Mario Williams dragged down Jay Cutler for the third time, jumped up and sashayed like a hula dancer. Last year's No. 1 pick had a career-high 3 1/2 sacks to lead the Houston Texans to a 31-13 victory over the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.

Never play in front of your girlfriend, just ask Tony Romo

jess_tony.jpgSo it's official, Tony Romo has one of the hottest girlfriends alive. He is dating Jessica Simpson. She was in the building to watch Romo stink it up against the Eagles today. She was wearing a pink cowboys uni with her new mans number on it, number 9. Nice.

Any attempts to impress his new chick didn't work for Romo. He had his worst game of the year statistically throwing 13-for-36 for 214 yards and three interceptions. They lost the game at home against the Eagles 10-6. His quarterback rating of 22.2. Ouch.

A lot of people were calling this the "Jessica Jinx" but not really. Last year, when Romo was dating Carrie Underwood he also stunk it up at home against the Eagles. Heres a word of advice to Tony, don't let your hot blond girlfriends come to your games.

In Romo's defense, he had a thumb injury on his throwing hand. He looked off the whole day so for the Cowboys sake, they'd better hope that he recovers and quick.

Terrell Owens vs Keyshawn Johnson

to.jpgI honestly didn't even know this was going to be an issue but I should have known better than to think that Terrell Owens could keep his mouth shut for too long. After some comments made directly to him from former Dallas Cowboy Keyshawn Johnson on ESPN's NFL sunday countdown. It's interesting though because both of these guys are known to have big mouths.

Johnson made some good points about Terrell Owens. He commented on how much Owens has been critical of his former head coach Bill Parcels. Here is a summary from Awful Announcing:

Wow. Keyshawn makes a great point about previous coaches building their teams and the following coach taking them to Super Bowls in regards to Owens. He used himself in Tampa with Tony Dungy building the team but Gruden winning the Super Bowl, and the same analogy with Emmitt, Jimmy Johnson, and Switzer. This could actually be the case in Dallas this year. Good stuff.

Terrell Owens responded with these comments:

I'm probably the reason he's in the booth now. He's going to be a hater and throw me under the bus because he has to defend Bill. He won a Super Bowl and all, but you'd have to check the roster to know he was even on the team.

We came out in the same year. He was a first-rounder and I was a third. Go compare our stats. He couldn't come down here now and be a third or fourth receiver on this team. Just compare our stats.

Wow... T.O. needs to shut up.

NFL Wrap: The Cowboys take out Favre and the Packers

Brett Favre came into this game with an 0-8 Record against Dallas and his losing streak continued in this one with the Cowboys defeating the Packers 37-27. The downpoint of the game for Favre was in the second quarter when he was hit as he was throwing by Nathan Jones and was also intercepted on the play. That may not have been so bad but he was also hurt in the process and did not return.

Aaron Rodgers replaced Favre. He struggled a bit on the first drive but in the end he showed that he was worth being drafted in the first round. Rodgers played stellar, going 18-26 for 201 yards and a TD. He also rushed for a few key first downs.

Tony Romo and Terrell Owens had monster games though both coming up with big plays. Romo went 19-30 for 309 yards and 4 TD's while Owens had 7 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. It would have been two touchdowns if it wasn't for one of the stranger plays I've seen. Tony Romo found Owens wide open in the end zone. Owens bobbled the pass and somehow gave it right to Al Harris. This one out.

[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=R8Mm1YRPZtQ]

That would've put them up by ten points with about 8 minutes to go and with the interception the Packers still had hope. However, Romo and the Cowboys weren't trying to hear it. They came up big on both ends of the ball in the fourth to take the game.

The game definitely lived up to the hype. Favre's status is day to day at this point but their next game is 10 days away so I expect Favre to be able to play.

Before the game there was a moment of silence in the arena for the Redskins Sean Taylor. Every player had a number 21 on their helmet which every player in the league will this year.

Packers vs Cowboys: Who is this game more important for?

terrell_owens.jpgTonights big matchup between the Cowboys and the Packers is by far the biggest game in the NFC. If you can see it. The NFL network is offering this game but it is only available with satellite companies and certain cable companies. The cable companies that offer this channel offer it on a higher tier of service, and guess what? It costs more money. More of cable companies monopoly but don't get me started on that.

Back to the actual game. This game has huge playoff implications for both teams. Both teams are 10-1, leading their division and have home fields that would be tough to win at in the playoffs. This is probably the second most important game of the year (after Colts vs Patriots). Whoever wins this game gets a huge advantage because they will basically go two games up on the other for first place in the NFC. No one wants to go to Lambeau in January and I don't see the Cowboys being able to beat them there. Just like I don't see Brett Favre and the Pack beating the Cowboys if his losing streak there continues.

Brett Favre has never won in Texas stadium going 0 for 8 including the playoffs but whats in the past is in the past. The Packers come in with one of the toughest defenses in the league despite the fact that they may be without as many as five defensive starters including former pro bowler Charles Woodson. Thats gonna be big because the Cowboys are getting receiver Patrick Crayton back. That should take some of the pressure off of Terrell Owens and Jason Witten.

I'm taking the Packers in this game. It is a game time decision for Charles Woodson but I think he's gonna go and if he does that should limit the amount of big plays for the cowboys because him and Al Harris are two of the most physical receivers in the League. Brett Favre is playing better than he has since he did the year they won the superbowl and the Cowboys secondary is also banged up. Look for Favre to exploit that.

Hopefully you can see this game but if not, do what I'm doing. Call your cable company, order the channel and then remove it after the game is over. The way most companies charge you, you may get prorated for one day of the service but not likely.
