So last night was an exciting night for NBA fans eh?

First, the greatest player never to play a full NBA game, Greg Oden, finally got through a whole game.

Wow!

He scored 3 points and grabbed 2 boards in 16 minutes of work. Not too impressive but here was 1 of those rebounds and 2 of those points on one play.

If that wasn't exciting enough for you, things got a little ugly during the Rockets 94-82 victory over the Suns. Matt Barnes and Rafer Alston got into it after a cheap shot from Barnes. They were both ejected but something tells me this won't be the last we hear about this.

Still not exciting enough for you?? Ok well heres the last highlight of the night from me. If this isn't good enough for you, nothing will be.

The very hot Celtics faced the undefeated Hawks. It was a close game coming down the line but Paul Pierce put the dagger in at the last second.

Kevin Garnett tries to bully Jose Calderon

During last nights relatively intense Raptors/Celtics matchup, Kevin Garnett decided that it would be a good idea to try and intimidate the Raptors point guard Jose Calderon. I'm not really sure how all of this started but I'm really surprised that he didn't get ejected or at the very least, a taunting foul.

If Kevin Garnett was Eddie House doing this exact same thing, he would've gotten ejected, suspended, fined, or all of the above. It must be nice to be a superstar.

Gotta love the intensity though and the fact the Jose didn't back down, even though KG's got about 8 inches and 40 lbs on him. If only the Raptors could get intense like this more often, they might make it out of the first round of the playoffs.

James Posey signs with the Hornets

Former Celtics swingman James Posey signed with the Hornets this week. The deal is estimated to be worth 4 years, $25 million.

James Posey will be a proven winner coming off the bench for the Hornets. He brings veteran leadership and good 3 point shooting to a team that is on the uprise. He will make a good young team even better.

From ESPN:

"It was a really tough decision for him," Bartelstein said. "Boston was an incredible experience for him every way you look at it. If he was going to leave Boston, he wanted to make sure it was for a team that would compete for championship immediately and the Hornets certainly are in that world."

Because of future luxury-tax concerns, Boston was apparently reluctant to offer Posey, 31, more than a two- or three-year deal starting at the league's midlevel exception (just under $5.6 million) in spite of Posey's considerable contributions to the Celtics' first championship since 1986.

Posey was a key part of the Celtics winning the championship and he has won 2 of the last 3 titles. He also won it in 2006 with the Heat.

Brian Scalabrine doesn’t like the media

Don't tell the Celtics Brian Scalabrine that his team is no good.  Don't tell him that his team is not going to win the title because he will get at you.  Just like he dissed LeBron James during they Celtics series with the Cavs, he is back at it again, only this time he is going at the media "experts" for going with the Lakers to win the championship.

This is must see tv.

Laker/Celtic cheerleader controversy

Whitney

The Lakers and Celtics have more in common than we originally thought. Current Laker Cheerleader Whitney is former Celtic Cheerleader Whitney.

I for one feel duped. I didn't know that this was a traveling gig that these girls do. I thought that you just live somewhere and thats the city that you cheer for. I wonder who shes really cheering for.

Thanks to Hot Clicks for putting me up on this.

Leon Powe definitely came to play last night

During last nights game 2 of the NBA Finals, Leon Powe was in the spotlight.  At halftime they gave him a little section where they told his story about where he was from.

He definitely went through a lot coming up, being homeless and losing his mother and struggling to keep the family together.

He has definitely come a long way and I don't know if their Leon Powe segment inspired him or what but he played like a madman last night scoring 21 points in game 2.  This guy only had 8 points in all of the Eastern conference finals.  He picked a good time to come out of his shell though.

Kevin Garnett taking a little bit of the T-Wolves with him?

Garnett and Cheerleader

Kevin Garnett is having a great time during his first NBA Finals appearance so far but not if the good folks over at Media Takeout have anything to say about it.

According to MTO, Kevin Garnett has been having an affair with this chick for almost four years:

Word going around is that Celtics superstar Kevin Garnett may be been carrying on a long-term relationship with a former Minnesota Timberwolves dancer named Krissy.

The relationship, according to the rumors, has been going on for nearly 4 years. And get this - MediaTakeOut.com has learned that she and Kevin are so tight that she moved to Boston when Kevin was traded from Minnesota to the Celtics.

Here is a picture of Kevin Garnett with his wife....

Now IF these allegations are true and he is cheating, don't worry Mrs. Garnett. I'll be more than happy to comfort you in your time of need.

I don't know if this is actually true or not but from the looks of things, it might be... Check out this pic...

KG cheating

You be the judge but I know one thing, if a chick was looking at me that way, we'd be fucking that night.

Crazy rebound slam by Kevin Garnett [Video]

During game 1 of the Finals last night between the Lakers and the Celtics, Kevin Garnett had a strong start but towards the end of the game, his shot was off and he kept missing.

This helped him though.  Very high percentage shot.

That helped KG get back on track and it also sent a message.  Can't wait for game 2.

Was Paul Pierce faking the injury?

Pierce Injury

LA Times Columnist Bill Plaschke believes that Paul Pierce may have been faking his injury. The thought crossed my mind too but I think if they were going to do that, they should've done it in at least game 5 if not later. Not game 1.

Heres an excerpt from Plaschke's article:

When Pierce crumpled on the floor after being apparently faked out of his kneecap by Kobe Bryant with 6:52 left in the third quarter, the Lakers led by four points.

When he returned after just 1:45 had ticked off the game clock, the Celtics led by one.

The "Rocky" theme played. The crowd roared. Pierce hobbled out with drama dripping from every step.

He was so hurt, he immediately began sprinting around the stunned Lakers defenders.

He was in such pain, he hit consecutive three pointers late in the period that gave the Celtics the lead for good.

At which point, a Lakers season filled with colorful adjectives had been reduced to one word.

C'mon!

Afterward, Pierce played the part of the resurrected hero, shaking his head at the wonder of it all.

So what do you guys think? Do you think it was real or theatrics?

Celtics/Lakers: Paul Pierce has a game 1 for the ages

Pierce Game 1

During these playoffs, Paul Pierce has been cementing his place as an all time Celtic great and a lock to have his number retired.

First, there was the game 7 against the Cavs where he lifted his team to a win with 41 points going toe to toe with one of the games best in LeBron James.

Then there was last nights game 1 in the NBA Finals where he had a Willis Reed type moment that Celtics fans will tell their kids about (if they win the series).

It all started in third quarter when Pierce went down with a knee injury. The whole arena went silent as Pierce had to be carried off the floor.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Afe9TLvKQ24]

There was footage of Pierce in the back being pushed in a wheelchair by the training staff and all the hopes of the Celtics fans were being pushed away with it but a little while later, without warning, Pierce emerged from the locker rooms with a sleeve on his knee and wasn't limping at all. The crowd let him know how much they appreciated it.

Thanks to my man Ryne over at Odenized, there is some footage on that clip of Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson commenting on Phil Jackson's time out calling ability (I didn't even know that was a skill that could be guaged so easily). There is also wired footage of the Celtics timeout.

So anyway, Pierce made an immediate impact when he came back. He hit two crucial 3 pointers in a row to help the C's clinch the game 1 victory 98-88.

The Celtics are up 1-0 in the series. Game 2 is Sunday.
