DeShawn Stevenson is back at it again

So I guess it was only a matter of time before DeShawn Stevenson would start taunting again. At least this time his team was winning unlike last time.

So in last nights game the Wizards finally got a win and Stevenson used this opportunity to bust out some of his old patented taunts.

Brendan Haywood clobbers LeBron James

Brendan Haywood got a flagrant 2 and was ejected in last nights Wizards-Cavs game. The play reminded me a of a wide receiver going out for a pass and a DB knocking him out of midair. It's basketball though.

LeBron James knows how to shut DeShawn Stevenson up

Ok so can anyone tell me why, if your struggling from the field and your team is down 19 points and you hit a 3 pointer, you would blow on your hand like your on fire?? Well DeShawn Stevenson led his team to another loss last night and all he really did was manage to piss LeBron James off to the point that it motivated him.

After hitting a 3 pointer he blew on his hand like his team was the one up 19 points and then afterwards LeBron came right back down and answered.

Later, Damon Jones got in on the action:

Refs help Cavs pull off amazing comeback

So just when you think 76ers pulled off an upset and held off a comeback attempt from the Cavs, the refs come in a say not so fast. Devin Brown shot a shot that fell short but after a replay the refs decided that he was fouled with .2 seconds left. He sank both of the free throws to give the Cavs the win.

NBA Wrap: Wells helps extend Rockets losing streak, Cavs still own the Pistons, AI returns to Philly

wells_080319.jpgHornets 90 - Rockets 69

After having the second longest winning streak in NBA history, the Rockets are now on a 2 game losing streak after their bad loss to the Hornets last night 90-69.

Bonzi Wells was traded from the Rockets to the Hornets right before the trade deadline. He claims that his performance last night was not a reflection of that but I doubt that. He scortched the Rockets in the fourth quarter of this one, scoring 20 of his 25 points in the fourth. He looked like Bonzi Bryant or something. Always be careful when there are players who you trade and then you play them when you are both in the playoff hunt.

Cavaliers 89 - Pistons 73

This is fastly becoming one of the top rivalries in the league and LeBron was up to the challenge as always.  He dropped 30 points on the Pistons to lead the way for the Cavs and put himself closer to being the top scorer in Cavs history.  He needed 35 points to pass Brad Daugherty for the lead, with only 5 points left to score for that lead it's safe to say that he will probably get it soon.

Cleveland proved that they are still a contender in the east with this 89-73 win, turning the ball over just 8 times in the whole game.

Nuggets 113 - 76ers 115

In Allen Iverson's first game back in Philly since he was traded in December 2006 the 76ers welcomed him back by beating him.

AI had his chance to make it a storybook ending for himself though.  He had a chance with a 20 foot jumper with seconds to go but he misfired and instead the Nuggets left Philly with a 115-113 loss.  The Philly fans gave him a great ovation though.

NBA Wrap: The Champs are slippin, Paul and Howard carry their teams

pierce_080317.jpgCeltics 93 - Spurs 91

The Celtics could've easily packed it in last night. After an embarassing first half where they were down by as many as 22, they rallied to come back on the road against the champs for the win.

They didn't and with big nights from Paul Pierce (22 points), Kevin Garnett (21 points), Rajon Rondo (20 points) and Sam Cassell (17 points), they made the comeback in the second half to pull out the narrow 93-91 win over the Spurs. The champs have lost 4 in a row and 6 out of their last 7. They better get this handled now, or else they may be a 4th seed in the playoffs, or worse.

The Spurs lost this one at home, despite Robert Horry's best attempt to get inside the opponents head.

Bulls 97 - Hornets 108

Chris Paul is making his bid for MVP this season legit with performances like the one last night. He single-handedly took over the game in the second half and finished with game highs of 37 points and 13 rebounds. Paul lead the Hornets to a very thrilling 108-97 win over the Bulls after trailing most of the second half.

Magic 104 - Cavaliers 90

The Magic shot better from 3 points than they did from the rest of the field. They shot 14 of 32 from the 3 point line. Dwight Howard handled the rest scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. This helped the Magic take a 2-1 season series lead on the Cavs with their 104-90 victory.

Hawks 105 - Wizards 96

The Hawks currently have the longest postseason drought in the league. It's been nearly 10 years since the Hawks last made the playoffs but that may end this year. With their 105-96 win over the Wizards last night the Hawks moved past the Nets for the 8th spot. Watch out for the squads that are fighting and clawing for the last playoff spots. Unless of course they are the Hawks who manage to find a way to miss the playoffs like no other.

LeBron makes it clear whos house it is

Yesterday in the Cavs game against the Bulls, LeBron James made sure that it was clear where they were and whos house it was, unfortunately for Luol Deng, it was at his expense, this one brings a tear to my eye...

NBA Wrap: Kobe drops 52 and Jkidd folds under pressure, Rockets push streak to 15,

kobe_080302.jpgLakers 108 - Mavericks 104

In the first half Kobe Bryant missed 7 of his first 10 free throws. He went on to hit 15 of 15 in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the Lakers to a 108-104 victory in overtime over the new look Mavs. Kobe finished the game with 52 points after scoring 30 points in the fourth and overtime.

The Mavs tried all sorts of different defenses to stop him but none of them worked.

"We gave him a single look, then we double-teamed him, then we gave him a triple-team and he split the triple-team and scored,'' Johnson said. "We tried to zone him, we tried to funnel him in the trap for a zone and he went the other way. He didn't cooperate on any of our defenses.

"Obviously he milked the free throw line on us and he just had it all going. He's a great player. He has these (games). Lots of these.''

The game went to overtime when Jason Kidd found Dirk Nowitzki for a game tying three pointer after the Mavs managed to lose the lead they had for most of the second half. Once the game went into overtime, Kobe took over helping the Lakers to a 3 point lead with just second to go. Jason Kidd made a great play by getting a layup and a foul but he folded under the pressure and missed the game tying free throw.

Rockets 103 - Nuggets 89

The Rockets have managed to continue the seasons longest winning streak and tying the longest winning streak that the Rockets have had in franchise history, both years that they had those winning streaks they won the championship, we'll see how that works out for them this time.

The Rockets didn't need the injured Yao Ming to beat the 9th place Nuggets at home last night in their 103-89 win. The Rockets took the lead at the end of the first quarter and they did not look back after that. They led for the rest of the game and by double digits for most of it. Tracy McGrady finished with 22, Shane Battier had 20 and Luis Scola had 18. Dikembe Mutombo even came up big, getting 3 blocks and thouroughly getting on Kenyon Martin's nerves, LoL.

Cavaliers 95 - Bulls 86

For Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes, they finally found out firsthand what many other teams in the league already know, LeBron James and getting better and better, more and more dominant and he is nearly unstoppable in the fourth quarter at this point in his career.

James' former teammates now play for the Bulls and they, like other teams, were not able to stop LeBron when it counted and he took over to finish with 37 including a key stretch in the fourth when he scored six straight points.  His production lead the Cavs to a 95-86 win.

NBA Wrap: Pistons destroy the Suns, LeBron’s cavalry arrives

rasheed_022408.jpgPistons 116 - Suns 86

The Pistons are a team that always plays better against better competition, so of course they were gonna be ready for Shaq and the Suns but yesterdays game was ridiculous. The Pistons beat the Suns by 30 points in a 116 - 86 beatdown.

"This was a big game for us,'' Billups said. "You know how we are, man, when we play against other elite teams, we lock in. We lock in big-time. I thought everybody played great today - everybody.''

Six Pistons scored in double figures, lead by Rasheed Wallace who had 22 points and completely dominated downlow.

Cavaliers 109 - Grizzlies 89

So apparently LeBron and his new teammates didn't really need much time to get acquainted with his new squad. Now to be fair, they were playing the Grizzlies but it is what it is.

LeBron James finished the game with 25 points and 11 assists and all of the players picked up in the big trade contributed in the Cavs 109-89 win over the Grizzlies.

Ben Wallace, who started at power forward, scored 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Delonte West, the starter at point guard, scored five points with six assists. Joe Smith and Wally Szczerbiak, came off the bench. Smith scored 14 points while Szczerbiak had 10.

Heres some highlights:

Around the league

Cavs pick up Wallace from Bulls, Szczerbiak from Sonics in a threeway deal

080208_szczerbiak.jpgThe Cavs made it in time for the trade deadline, making a deal with the Bulls and the Sonics to acquire some help for lebron... He's breathing a sigh of relief, sort of.

Heres how the deal breaks down:

Cavs get:

Bulls F/C Ben Wallace
Bulls F Joe Smith
Bulls 2009 2nd-round pick
Sonics F Wally Szczerbiak
Sonics G Delonte West

Bulls get:

Cavaliers F Drew Gooden
Cavaliers G Larry Hughes
Cavaliers F Cedric Simmons
Cavaliers G Shannon Brown

Sonics get:

Cavaliers F Ira Newble
Cavaliers F Donyell Marshall
Bulls F Adrian Griffin

This is a decent deal for Cavs.  Ben Wallace will add some toughness down low and Szczerbiak will add some good perimeter shooting.  I'm really surprised that they got rid of Gooden and Hughes though but it is what it is.  Wallace should help them against Detriot in the playoffs.
