Young Jeter

According to a new players poll conducted by Sport Illustrated Derek Jeter is considered the most overrated player in the Majors. This poll asked other Major Leaguers who they think is the most overrated player in the league. Are the players telling the truth or just hating?

Well if you consider the talent thats on the list with him, you can make a strong argument that the Majors is full of haters. This list included guys like Alex Rodriguez, David Wright and Barry Zito... Ok Zito is pretty overrated, overpaid and underachieving but thats about it.

Surprisingly enough, Derek Jeter was also second on another poll. This poll asked who you would want to start a team around. So he's overrated but he would be the player these guys would start their team around. WOW! Gimme a break.

Hank Steinbrenner calling out the Yankees

hank051408.jpeg

The baby boss Hank Steinbrenner is not happy with how the Yankees have been playing lately. At 19-21 the Yankees are fourth place in the division. Don't they seem to always start out like this?

So much for the Yankees "restoring order to the universe," like Hank started before the season started.

"We've got to forget about all the injuries and start playing our butts off," Steinbrenner told The Post. The Yankees were buried by the Rays on Monday. These are difficult days for Joe Girardi's club.

"The bottom line is that the team is not playing the way it is capable of playing," Steinbrenner said. "These players are being paid a lot of money and they had better decide for themselves to earn that money."

Agreed. All the Yankees get paid a lot of money and guys like Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada are getting paid for nothing right now since they are injured.

I fully expect that the Yankees will make a move around the All Star break like they always do.

Daily Fix: Sex, drugs and 100 MPH fastballs

angelamoyers.jpgThis is a new daily feature article that I will be implementing into Sportfiends.com daily. This will be a post similar to The Big Leads: PM Roundup articles where I will be posting about and linking to some of the second page stories going on in sports or anything else goin on that is interesting.

As the dealer, I have to keep you fiends tweakin so here goes nothin, look forward to seeing this and much more new features coming soon including a revamped forum (vBulletin, when I can get VB figured out; lol).

The young lady to the left (Angela Moyers) is another "close friend" of Roger Clemens. According to their sources, the daily news is reporting that our boy Roger had quite a few attractive friends who flew on his private jet. Not bad Roger. [NY Daily News]

NBA playoff ratings are through the roof, much different than last year. [USA Today]

The AP is reporting that they have sources that told them that Kevin Durant will be named as the NBA Rookie of the year. I have sources that told me that too, they are called stats and game highlights. [Yahoo]

Our friends over at The Legend of Cecilio Guante took the time to pick out the hottest Olympic hopefuls and let me just say, this gives me a lot more national pride.... USA USA!! :-D [The Legend of Cecilio Guante]

Karl Malone is another example of a black man whos a deadbeat dad with exceptional genes. Damn it, why do we have to be so damn sexy. The mailman had his first kid with a 13 year old when he was 18, now that guys in the NFL and wheres Malone? No where to be found. [Deuce of Davenport]

Alex Rodriguez is hurt... awww poor baby... He should probably rub some money on his injured quad, that'll probably make it feel better. [NY Daily News]

Arod = A daddy x2

arod_ababy.jpgAlex Rodriguez's wife Cynthia Rodriguez gave birth to their second daughter late on Monday in Miami. The couple announced it on their website yesterday:

"We are thrilled with the birth of our second child and the blessing of having two healthy, beautiful children in our family," said A-Rod, who flew from New York to Miami to be with his wife.

Rodriguez said his newborn, whose name was not immediately released, weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
The 32-year-old proud papa was at his wife's bedside and is expected to miss a few games while he's changing diapers instead of batting cleanup.

Now if only he could have a boy then the name would go on, future softball players everywhere better beware.

Alex Rodriguez makes more than the entire Marlins squad

a-rod-marlins.jpgFound an interesting post on Yahoo today. Everyone knows that Alex Rodriguez is the richest player in baseball. He has the biggest contract in baseball history but heres in interesting tidbit. Apparently Alex Rodriguez makes more than the entire Marlins team, and not by a little.

Alex Rodriguez is making $28 million a year while the entire Marlins team is pulling in $21.8 Million. That means that he could pay off their salaries and still have roughly $6 million dollars left over.

This explains why being a Marlins fan aint easy. Meanwhile in New York, Alex Rodriguez is laughing all the way to the bank.

A-Rod regrets turning the Mets down: A-Rod may not be so money hungry afterall

amd_rodriguezboras.jpgAlex Rodriguez mostly avoided talking about the whole situation with his contract negotiations in the offseason. For a while, it was all they talked about on ESPN.

First Alex Rodriguez and his agent Scott Boras opted out of the highest contract in MLB history, in what seemed like only an effort to get more money. Whats the difference between 275 million and 300 million anyway?

So Alex Rodriguez wasn't havin it. His agent Scott Boras was pulling the strings and trying to get this ridiculous contract for his client but A-Rod chose to negotiate with the Yankees without him. Good move A-Rod.

Rodriguez learned his lesson the last time around when he was a free agent in 2000. He had offers coming from everywhere and he wanted to go play for the Mets but instead he was convinced by his agent that playing for the big money in Texas with the Rangers was the right move.

Rodriguez is very unhappy at his time in Texas and as a result he decided that he wasn't going to make that decision again.

Maybe Alex Rodriguez isn't the money grubbing superstar that can't win anything like thought he was afterall, or maybe he is.

Afternoon News and Notes: Sometimes good things happen to good people

LoL. So something really random and good happened to me yesterday. I just made a post about how my internet was cut off and so I called the company to see how much I was gonna have to pay to get it back on. I thought it was interesting because I had read my email at work and it had an email from the company saying "Thank you for your payment" and then when I called the company, they said that they received the payment too. The only thing is, I didn't make a payment. It's all good though, they turned my internet back on.

We're back online and I am constantly trying to tweak this new theme. If anyone is good at graphics and wants to make a better banner that will match the theme please let me know. Heres some random news and notes.

It’s official, Chris Simon is a psycho, and oh yeah hes out for 30 games

Chris Simon is in the NHL record books again. He was suspended for an NHL record 30 games today by the NHL for this incident:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uhlO8ktUUU]

He really could have torn that guys tendons or something. He may not have been able to walk again. The NHL's racist badboy will be sitting at home with the rest of us watching for the next 30 games for that last incident. Some of you may remember some of his past suspensions, if you don't I'll refresh your memory a bit.

After Ryan Hollweg checked Simon last season, Simon suffered a concussion and it didn't faze him whatsoever. Simon immediately got up and showed us his best Alex Rodriguez impression with Hollweg's face. Check it out:
