Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the new Ali/Frazier

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will meet in the Finals for Wimbledon for the third straight year and for the sixth time in their careers.

Roger Federer has been pretty flawless in his run to the finals as he usually is at Wimbledon. He hasn’t dropped a set all tournament and in his semifinal matchup against Marat Safin he didn’t lose one lose one serve in his 6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-4 win. That was his 40th straight win at Wimbledon. Pretty good streak.

Rafael Nadal is trying to become the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to win both the French and Wimbledon. He tried to do the same thing in ‘06 and ‘07 and was stopped by Federer both times. Nadal beat Rainer Schuettler 6-1, 7-6 (3) 6-4 to make it to the finals.

Nadal looks more dangerous than he ever has on grass but just like he dominates the French Open year in and year out, Roger Federer owns Wimbledon. My pick is Federer in this one even though it should be a pretty exciting matchup like last years final.
