Alex Ovechkin had been a slump lately. This was one of his worst stretches in his young career, in which he had only scored 1 goal in his last 8 games. He got out of the slump last night though.

He scored 3 goals in the first period as the Capitals got off to a really quick start, scoring six goals in the first period. Damn and that lead them to finish with a 10-2 victory over the Bruins last night.

“Today, everything just went to the net,” Ovechkin said. “You are going to score (in) lots of games, and some you (won’t). I always tell myself not to think about goals and to just play how I can.”

Ovechkins 3 goals put him over the 50 goal mark to put his league leading total to 52.

Sharks 6 – Canadiens 4

Joe Thornton had 2 goals and 2 assists and newly acquired Shark Brian Campbell had 1 goal and 1 assist to cap off a good game for the Sharks. The final score from San Jose, CA was Sharks 6 and Canadiens 4.

Brian Campbell finally perfected a spin move that he had been working on since he and Thornton were kids growing up in Ontario.  He was able to pull it off in his goal with 1:39 to play in this one.

Ducks 3 – Senators 1

The rematch of last years Stanley Cup finals were pretty much the same as last years finals, all Ducks all day.

Corey Perry and Scott Niedermayer each contributed 1 goal and 1 assist in this was one and Jean-Sebastien Giguere was stone cold making 24 saves to help the defending champs to beat the Sens 3-1. The Sens have been slumping a lot lately.
