D'Antoni was in talks with the Knicks and the Bulls this week and was sought after by both but the Knicks offer must've been more lucrative. The deal will for D'Antoni will be a four-years and $24 million. That will make him the third highest paid coach in the NBA. Where the Knicks get all this money from, I have no idea.
The Knicks are one of basketballs premier franchises but one that has fallen from grace over the last few years under the leadership of Isiah Thomas and James Dolan. Now with Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni running the show, it appears that it may be a new day for the Knicks.
They still have to deal with the ridiculous salaries of all the players and the fact that they don't have any floor leadership, no stars, and a lot of disunity.
This is a huge risk for Mike D'Antoni. We will finally see if the recent success that the Suns had was due to D'Antoni's system or due to Steve Nash's ability to execute the system.
