Jason Kidd deal is done
Ok so I know that I’m a little late on this one but it’s all good, you guys still love me right? I know you do.
Anyway, The Jason Kidd deal finally went through yesterday. After they kept in suspense for a while and the deal was close, then it wasn’t, it got close again and finally went through.
The eight player deal includes Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, center DeSagana Diop and forward Keith Van Horn along with Dallas’ first round draft picks in 2008 and 2010, and cash considerations from the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs get Jason Kidd and forwards Antoine Wright and Malik Allen.
Jason Kidd will make his debut for the Mavs tonight against the Hornets so we will see how this deal will work against one of the Wests premier teams.
I’ve been hearing ESPN analysts saying this deal is good but it still doesn’t make them one of the top 3 teams in the West. I don’t know about that. I’m not going to come out here and say they will beat the Spurs or Suns but this will definitely make them a way better team and it will make them a lot better than all these ESPN guys are giving them credit for. I am from Jersey and I was around for the many years when they were so bad, people didn’t even know there was a team in a Jersey. He came there and brought the Nets to two championships. He’s a proven winner and if you add him to a team like the Mavs with a lot of weapons, it going to be a problem.
The real winner in this deal is Keith Van Horn. He is going to get paid $4 million + to come out of retirement and practice with the Nets for no more than a month. I’d take that deal.
I think everyone agrees that this is a good trade for the Mavs but I wonder if he forgives Jason Kidd for this one:
