Felix Hernandez had a good and a bad day yesterday

Published by houroc under Baseball

The Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets faced off at Shea Stadium yesterday and the pitching duel was definitely a notable one.  Mets ace Johan Santana vs Mariners talented youngster Felix Hernandez.  It’s been the curse of the Mets this season for unusual things to happen but I don’t think anyone saw this coming.

In Felix Hernandez’ first at bat on the first pitch, he took Johan Santana pitch yard and the bases happened to be loaded which would make that a grand slam.  Not bad for a pitcher.

3 innings later, Hernandez had to leave the game after being spiked by Carlos Beltran on a play at home.  I don’t think it was intentional but it’s not a bad way to get the guy back either way.
