Daytona 500 Wrap: Ryan Newman wins the 500… Who?

Ryan Newman won the 50th running of the Daytona 500 yesterday.  Much to the dismay of all the press that were trying to make their golden boy Dale Earnhardt Jr out to be the one who was gonna win it. Maybe the pressure got to him but I have to admit that they had me convinced though.

Despite all the hype, Dale Jr finished in 9th place. This race was a much bigger disappointment for Tony Stewart. After turn 2 on the final lap Stewart was in the lead with hopes of taking the 500 home but it wasn’t meant to be.

Ryan Newman came out of no where and shot down the backstretch to take the victory and put himself in the history books.  Congrats to Ryan Newman, 2008 Daytona 500 winner.
