Afternoon News and Notes: My internet is cut off again

Living on your own in a new state and trying to hold it down has definitely been a big challenge. I moved to Texas to get to know my father who I've never had a relationship with and also he was supposed to help me get back into school. When things didn't work out at his place so I had to move out on my own and get a job. I am still planning on getting myself back into school but I don't know how just yet. Fall of 2008 is my goal.

Since I've been on my own I've struggled so much with money it's unbelievable. My internet and lights are getting cut off all the time but I'm going to win. This website has been so much fun to run but it's also an experiment to see if I can support myself running my own business.

Fighting for peace

Ok so I've vowed that I was going to make my blog as personal as possible.  So there were no updates today as you guys can see.

I spent the whole day supporting a world peace organization that I am a part of called Soka Gakkai International.  This is what I do now.  Dedicate my life to world peace and writing about sports.  I am going to post a couple of updates tonight before I go to bed.

Changing my theme today

Ok so I will definitely be changing the theme of SportFiends today.  I will be working on it as much as I can at work and then later on home.  When I'm done I would like some feedback.  Thanks.

Welcome our newest writer

We have a new SportFiends.com writer.  His name is Adash.  Check out his latest post here. I will be updating the SportFiends "About" page and adding info about him and I later on. Have a great day everyone

I’m sick as hell: could use some guest bloggers

Ok so working at a hospital really sucks.  I recently got a job as a a patient transporter at the Methodist Hospital here in Houston.  Working there has got it's pros and cons but it's mostly cons.  I am pushing patients around all day who are sick.  They are coughing and sneezing and all that crap all over the place.

Anyway, last week I got sick and had to call out from work a couple of days.  I thought I was better but apparently not.  Yesterday at work I got sicker, again... I think it's the flu.

Now I don't know if I'm getting sick because of the job or because of the weather here.  Houston weather in the winter is crazy because it will change like 30 degrees from on day to the next.  It can be like 80 degrees one day and then 50 the next or even later on that evening.  My body is not used to that shit.

Anyway, I took the day off from updating yesterday.  After I got home from work around 4pm I went to sleep and I didn't wake up until 11am today.  That was some bangin sleep.

It's times like this that I created the Write for SportFiends page for.  Usually I can hold it down but I would definitely like to find some good writers to write for hailmaryjane.  If you are interested check out the page and send me an email.  Don't be shy.

I will try to post some updates today but I will see how I feel.  It took me forever just to write this one.

Wow. It’s amazing what one good story can do for you

One of my goals when I started this blog was to have a day when I exceeded the 10,000 visitors mark. Four months in I accomplished it yesterday. I had over 27,000 visitors in one day. Wow. This is great exposure for my site and I promise all of my new readers that I will continue provide the best in sports news and rumors and half naked cheerleaders.

I read John Chow's and Darren Rowse's blogs all the time and I see them posting about their traffic ever now and then so I decided to make a post about it as well. Here are my stats from this week.

stats.jpg

I got 300+ visitors twice this week and I was excited about that but yesterdays total far surpassed my wildest imagination so first of all I want to thank everyone from all of the forums and other blogs that linked to my blog. I want to thank everyone who checked my page and I especially want to thank all of the new RSS readers that I have now.

SportFiends is about to go to the next level.

Last month was a low point for me personally and professionally (blogging-wise) because I was extremely broke. My internet was cut off for about two weeks and then my lights got cut off so I was unable to update for about 3 weeks but I made sure to continue striving to create as great of a blog as I could once I was back online.

I want this to be encouraging to anyone else out there who is trying to make it in this blog game. No matter what happens don't give up. Keep providing excellent content (and half naked cheerleaders) and people will come to your site. Thanks all the casual visitors and all the true sport fiends out there. Also thanks to my loyal readers who have been reading since the beginning.

Sacramento Kings Dancers know how to party! [Pics]

Ok so forget the parties with the NBA players. I want to party with the cheerleaders. A few weeks ago I posted some pics from a Utah Jazz party but unfortantly, it was a sausage fest. Not this one though. It's official. I'm moving to Cali...

These are pics from a party or parties involving the Sacramento Kings cheerleaders and I for one encourage this. There should be more parties with NBA cheerleaders drinking and hooking up with others. I love it. According to the source it includes Summer, Becca, Candace, Camille, Carly, Katie and Krystal.

Thanks to our friends at With Leather for putting me up on this one. Nice!

Stephen A. Smith has a blog?!?!

aff617b840f33a45d286451e8bf81b8f_stephenasmith.jpgSo it wasn't that long ago that Brooks broke the news that Stephen A. Smith was not too fond of bloggers.  Heres a quote from the distinguished Mr. A. Smith:

And when you look at the internet business, what’s dangerous about it is that people who are clearly unqualified get to disseminate their piece to the masses. I respect the journalism industry, and the fact of the matter is …someone with no training should not be allowed to have any kind of format whatsoever to disseminate to the masses to the level which they can. They are not trained. Not experts

Well Apparently he has joined the ranks of the unqualified or he just realized, as we all did, that the internet is the future but whatever it is Stephen A. Smith has gotten his own blog. Now it is still unconfirmed that this is actually his but I'm gonna assume that it is. If you look at some of his quotes, it definitely looks like him:

Essentially, I’m pretty much in a position to say what I want, when I want, how I want and to whom I damn-well please, which anyone who knows me knows I’ll exercise at any given moment. There will be plenty of time for sounding off in the very near future – about any and all issues that interest me.

I could just imagine Stephen, with his voice that sounds like a bullhorn put up to a loud speaker, saying something like that.  Only time will tell if this is actually him or not but we will see.

Sorry for the lack of updates

This is a message to my loyal readers.  I am so sorry about not updating.  My internet has been cut off for the last few weeks.  I will be trying to get it back on soon but if not I will have to sneak and make updates at work.  I just started a new job as a transporter at the Methodist Hospital so I will be able to get on their computers like I am today.  Thanks for all your understanding and when I get back SportFiends will be better than ever
