Missouri House of Reps Divided

The Missouri House of Representatives was having a spirited debate about the legality of the acclaimed marijuana substitute: K2.  During the debate, which I always picture involves wigs and a gavel, the house actually voted no to an amendment legalizing medical marijuana.  What what what?  What kind of tomfoolery is this?  Read on to find out. WTF DEA?

I was looking through my Digg RSS Feed (as usual) and I came across this travesty. Not only do the DEA hassle us non-violent drug offenders, they lie like cheap rugs! FTA:

On Thursday, a Denver news station interviewed Chris Bartkowicz about his medical-marijuana operation in the basement of his home. Bartkowicz, confident of his compliance with state laws, boasted of its size and profitability.”I’m definitely living the dream now,” he told 9News.

The following day, the dream was over.

Drug-enforcement agents raided his home, placed him under arrest, and carried off dozens of black bags of marijuana plants and growing lights.

The Obama administration promised in October that the federal government would respect state laws allowing the growing and selling of marijuana for medicinal use, but the Drug Enforcement Agency sent a loud message with the arrest of Bartkowicz.

You can read the rest of the article here I don’t know about you guy but to me nowadays every branch of the government whether state or federal has just said “fuck it” and is going all out. Here’s the video of the entire debacle:

The Ripple Effect of the Marijuana Industry

Anyone familiar with “trickle down” economics or the more popular term “supply side” economics (I prefer voodoo economics from Bush the senior) knows why and how medical marijuana will stimulate the economy.  The real irony is that a largely conservative idea like Reagan’s trickle down effect, is blocked from expanding because the legislation needed diametrically opposes conservatives belief that marijuana is evil.  What happens when a town or state is inundated with a new business?  Well, other businesses reap benefits along withe the proprietors of said business.  Confused?  Basically, the marijuana trade in Colorado is helping a lot of other small business owners as well.  Read on to find out how.

Long Live The Prince!

Marc Emery, Canada’s “Prince of Pot”,was taken into custody today to await trial here in the US on trafficking charges. Emery, who is infamous for selling millions of pot seeds through his now defunct mail order company, Marc Emery Seeds, is being tried in a Seattle court, where he will plead guilty to one count of marijuana distribution in order to dismiss all other charges against him. He will face 5-8 years for the charge. Emery’s booming seed company drew the attention of US Officials, which drove them to try to lock Emery up for life…for selling seeds.

How pathetic has our government become? We have tons of people dying everyday in various ways from various types of alcohol that come from other countries freely, but a man tries to sell seeds to grow a harmless plant and its the end of the world? Frankly, that’s some bullshit. Near tragic events have happened to some of my family members because of alcohol, can I lock up the sons of bitches over at Budweiser? Not likely.

Get $10,000 If You Prove Booze Is Safer Then Weed

In a great marketing move, the Marijuana Policy Project’s Nevada campaign organizers have put up $10,000 to challenge anyone to prove alcohol is safer then marijuana. MPP put out three statements that you need to prove wrong through government statistics or peer reviewed research to get your hands on the cash.

“1. Alcohol is significantly more toxic than marijuana, making death by overdose far more likely with alcohol.

2. The health effects from long-term alcohol consumption cause tens of thousands of more deaths in the U.S. annually than the health effects from the long-term consumption of marijuana.

3. Violent crime committed by individuals intoxicated by alcohol is far more prevalent in the U.S. than violent crime committed by individuals intoxicated by marijuana only.”

Chances are they are not going to have to pay out the cash and they are well aware of it,

“We are confident that we won’t need to pay out this $10,000,” said MPP-NV manager Dave Schwartz. “Marijuana is objectively and unquestionably less harmful than alcohol, as these three well-documented statements show. Alcohol is more toxic than marijuana, more likely to be lethal — either by overdose or chronic use — and more likely to contribute to violence. For good measure, alcohol is also more addictive than marijuana. As we consider whether to reform our marijuana laws, it is important that the people of Nevada understand these facts.”

These people aren’t gassed up, they’re just plane old right. In 2003, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, 20,687 people died in some way attributed to booze. This includes drunk driving, violence, and overdoses, but still an amazing number to think about when considering we are talking about a legal regulated substance.  The anti-weed zealots don’t want to get into this argument because the reality of the situation is nobody has ever overdosed on marijuana. I look forward to seeing someone attempt to debunk this.

The BPD capturing the celebration.

As we noted before, this past weekend saw a very successful Boston Freedom Rally. However the Boston Police Department just did not want to be part of the fun.  After video taping the main stage, for reasons unknown to rally organizers and attendees, the BPD began doing something quite unexpected.

A Letter From My Congressman About Marijuana (And Why He’s Wrong)

Mike_Rogers_109th_Congress_photo

I live in the glorious state of Michigan. It’s the home of Kellogg’s Cereal, Ford Pick-Up Trucks, Motown, and currently one of only 14 states that have legalized Medical Marijuana.  Known as “Proposal 1″ on the 2008 ballot, this proposal would make it legal for “medical marijuana to be cultivated, possessed, and used by individuals who apply for and receive a state ID issued on the basis of one of an enumerated list of chronic medical conditions.” I was 20 years old and it was my first time ever being allowed to vote in a Presidential election. I already knew I was voting for Obama, but once I heard about Prop 1, my desire to vote became even stronger. (You may already know this about me but, I am a massive supporter of legalizing marijuana on a medical and recreational basis)
