Mike Milbury wasn’t too happy about Tiger Woods comments

Mike Milbury

A few days ago, Tiger Woods pissed a lot of hockey fans and bloggers off when he said that he didn’t think that people watched hockey anymore. When asked who he was rooting for in the Stanley Cup Finals, this was his response:

“I don’t really care. Let’s talk about the Dodgers,” the California native said. “I don’t think anybody really watches hockey anymore.”

Well NHL on NBC’s Mike Milbury didn’t appreciate that comment too much and he wasn’t scared to let Tiger know about it:

“You know what? I’m gonna change the name now. It’s gonna be Tiger Wuss. Here’s a guy that took about three months to get over a simple arthroscopic surgery. You look at [Pens forward] Ryan Malone. His face exploded with a slap shot last night – he’s back out in 10 minutes!

“Keep your yap shut, Tiger, or I’ll send a couple of wingers down there – [Pens forward] Gary Roberts – to tidy you up a little bit, meat head.”

You can tell that Milbury was a bully growing up.

Tiger Woods may get asked about this but I doubt that he will be responding the same way next time.

Some people just have way too much time on their hands

Ok so here is a conversation between Patrick Green of San Antonio and Sean Beligian of WDFN 1130AM.  Green is highly upset with the Red Wings tradition of mistreating dead octopi.  He is going all out too.  He’s not kidding.

This guy needs a hobby like… watching sports, fucking or something.

Congrats to the Red Wings: One fan didn’t get to see it though

Congratulation to the Red Wings

Red Wings Stanley Cup

The Red Wings are the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions for the fourth time in 11 seasons. I don’t think anyone but Red Wings fans wanted them to win but congratulations anyway.

Congrats to Henrik Zetterberg for winning the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Ryan Malone gets slapped in the face… by the puck [Video]

During last nights game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Red Wings and the Red Wings and the Penguins, the Pens Ryan Malone proved why hockey players are so tough.

In this video he takes a slapshot from his own teammate right in the face. He had to leave the game for a little while but he came back because well… he’s a hockey player.

Red Wings fans gang rape an inflatable Penguin

wingsrape

Red Wings fans have no shame but for once it’s actually kind of funny.

During last nights game at a bar in East Michigan, Red Wings fans got an inflatable Penguin. Now when the Penguin agreed to come to the bar with them, I’m sure he didn’t anticipate what would happen to him there.

They probably slipped him a few ruffies and then they all took turns raping him. It’s too bad for them that the Red Wings didn’t do the same thing on the ice but oh well.

The Penguin will most likely be traumitized for life after that ordeal but judging by a few of the pics (the ones with the girls), I wouldn’t mind being that Penguin for the night.

Red Wings/Penguins: Sykora called his goal before he got it

pensgame5win.jpg

It took two and a half overtimes to decide game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals last night in Detroit. The Red Wings faithful were there the whole time, fully expecting their team to come away with the Stanley Cup that evening. Too bad they got disappointed.

During a brief break in the first overtime, NBC sideline reporter Pierre McGuire told everyone that Petr Sykora very confidently shared with him that he was going to get the next goal.

Turns out he was right. With 9:57 left in the third overtime he netted the game winner and sent all of the Detroit fans home feeling bitter.

He isn’t as cocky as you may think though. He was just trying to encourage his tired teammates in the locker room according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review:

“Calling the shot, it was just between the periods, it was something stupid I said.”

Heres a video of the goal that helped them to finally go to bed after playing until very late.

Nice.

Sykora wasn’t the only hero for the Pens last night though. If it wasn’t for Max Talbot and Marc-Andre Fleury’s efforts than Sykora wouldn’t have even had that opportunity to win the game for them.

Max Talbot scored the game tying goal with 34 seconds left that shocked all of the Detroit fans who all thought that it was over and that their team won.

After that it was Fleury the rest of the way who stopped a total of 55 shots and was just amazing during the overtimes. Making some amazing saves like this one:

As you can see it was a total team effort. Game 6 will be Wednesday from Pittsburgh.

Red Wings fans are crazy

bilde.jpg

I’m starting to see more and more why people consider Red Wings fans classless. During the National Anthem of the Saturdays Stanley Cup game 4 between the Red Wings and the Penguins, Zach Smith, who is an big Red Wings fan, decided that it would be a good idea to throw an octopus onto the ice.

Now I know this is a tradition for Red Wings or whatever (explains why Detroit smells so bad) but to do it during the National Anthem I think is disrespectful not only to the Pens but to the country.

After he threw the octopus he was immediately ejected but he wasn’t concerned because he snuck back into the arena despite the fact that he was told that he would be arrested if he did so:

They had bought an extra ticket in anticipation of his booting. That’s an extra $300 from a scalper.

And Smith was wearing a regular T-shirt, instead of Red Wings gear, when he threw the octopus.

Outside, he quickly threw on a Red Wings sweater and walked back into Gate 3.

The worst part about the whole thing is that other Red Wings fans cosigned it:

“Even if he got kicked out, that’s true Detroit pride,” said Trevor Staahl, 23, of Grosse Pointe Woods. “That’s how we do it in Detroit.”

What do you guys think about this?

The NHL is more popular than the NBA somewhere

Detroit has two of the premier teams in their sports. Hockey and Basketball and with both of their teams still playing now in late May, the competition between them for TV ratings is under the spotlight.

Surprisingly, hockey won out. Now it is the Stanley Cup Finals compared to the Eastern conference championship so it isn’t exactly on the same level but even so.

Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win on Wednesday night earned a 2.8 national rating and an 18.2 rating in Detroit, beating out the 15.9 rating for the Pistons’ matchup with the Boston Celtics.

Game 5 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference finals drew a 5.3 national rating.

Game 3 was the highest rated Stanley Cup final game since 2002. Is Hockey on the comeback? Ehhhh… I doubt it.

Flimsy Hockey Trophy: Hopefully this doesn’t happen to the Stanley Cup

The champions of the Canadian Hockey League are awarded the MasterCard Memorial Cup. This year the winners were the Spokane Chiefs and somehow when the cup is awarded to the American team, they manage to smash it two pieces.

The funny part is they try to put it back together but it just doesn’t work out. Hopefully no one does this to the Stanley cup.

NHL Wrap: Red Wings rock in hockey town

wings052508.jpg

Penguins 0 – Red Wings 4: The Red Wings got two goals from a player in this one but no it wasn’t Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, or one of the other usual suspects. Mikael Samuelsson broke out of slump in this game and came through with 2 goals.

As if Pens goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury wasn’t nervous enough in this one, the Red Wings kept the heat on him the whole night with a 36 shot attack. Fleury did his best but it wasn’t good enough to stop the Red Wings from taking an early series lead with a 4-0 win.

Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood only had to stop 19 shots. He did so with ease.

Something tells me this may be a short series.
