The NBA playoffs are dangerous… just ask Deron Williams and Shaq

So the NBA playoffs are known for their intensity. If you want to win you may have to take one for the team. Deron Williams and Shaquille O’neal know all about that. What happens if your team loses though? Did you just take one for nothing?

Anyway, Shaq takes it in the scrotum…

Deron Williams takes it in the ass… (not literally, you sicko)

LeBron James knows how to shut DeShawn Stevenson up

Ok so can anyone tell me why, if your struggling from the field and your team is down 19 points and you hit a 3 pointer, you would blow on your hand like your on fire?? Well DeShawn Stevenson led his team to another loss last night and all he really did was manage to piss LeBron James off to the point that it motivated him.

After hitting a 3 pointer he blew on his hand like his team was the one up 19 points and then afterwards LeBron came right back down and answered.

Later, Damon Jones got in on the action:

Dirk Nowitzki: Big flopper, big punk, or just plain goofy?

So apparently Sportfiends isn’t the only ones who have been questioning how tough Dirk Nowitzki actually is. I’ve been wondering about it for a long time and I guess David West took his chance to test him himself in their game 1 matchup on Saturday.

Check out the play with David West and Dirk Nowitzki in which Dirk ended up taking one in the cheeck from West. Some people called this play dirty but I just think that it was a sign of affection. Regardless, Dirk didn’t do anything about it.

So if that wasn’t enough, they decided to test Dirk again, and again he failed. After getting a BS foul call, Tyson Chandler gave Dirk a little shove and he flew about 10 feet. It was definitely one of those “you’ve gotta be kidding me” flops that would’ve made Manu Ginobili proud.

So what do you guys think? Is Dirk soft or does he just like to stuff peoples faces in his armpit?

Ralphie V’s Crazy Run: Ralphie almost got away

During CU’s Spring Game, Ralphie V (CU’s mascot) outruns 3 handlers, plows over another, and tries to get away.  This should spell a good season for CU football.

For the Blue Jays: Frank Thomas is out… Barry Bonds in?

thomasfrank.jpg

The Blue Jays released slumping slugger Frank Thomas over the weekend. Here is a snippet from The Star:

The veteran star, who was mired in an early season slump, will be paid the full remainder of what he’s owed on his $8 million (U.S.) 2008 salary. He is now free to sign with another team. Rumoured favourites to procure his services include Seattle, Tampa Bay and Oakland.

The Big Hurt’s hasty exit came roughly 24 hours after another closed-door tête à tête. That’s when the struggling designated hitter was told by manager John Gibbons he was being benched for the foreseeable future.

This season, Thomas was hitting .167 with three home runs, but he didn’t take kindly to it when word got out on Saturday that he was being benched.

“I’m angry. I know I can help this team. My career isn’t going to end like this,” Thomas said before Saturday’s game against the Tigers. He dared the team to cut him.

Many people are speculating that this means that the Blue Jays may have room for another aging slugger, Barry Bonds. Assuming that Bonds doesn’t go to jail, that may be a good fit for them to replace the minimal production that Frank Thomas provided.

Boston Marathon is today: Let the drinking begin

robert-cheruiyot.jpg

Ok so some 25,000 runner are preparing to run the Boston Marathon today. The annual 26.2 mile race will be ran under way better conditions than last year. It was very rainy last year but this years race should be all clear.

Thankfully for all you Bostonites out there, the Liquor stores will be open today. I didn’t know that it was a tradition in Boston to start drinking at 10:30 am until Deadspin put me up on this. LoL. Let the partying begin.

And who will the drunkards be cheering on? I’m puttin my money on someone from Kenya, probably Robert Cheruiyot. He has won that last two even though he looks like he hasn’t eatin a meal in that time.

Kevin Garnett: “Everything ain’t always peaches ‘n cream”

Kevin Garnett has some of the funniest post game interviews.

Heres another classic from the Big Ticket.

As always, thanks to Odenized for the great NBA videos. Somehow this guy always has the best videos before anyone else.

George Karl, the Sumo Wrestler?

Ok I’m not really sure WTF is going on here but apparently George Karl’s next career is going to be Sumo Wrestling.  Now hopefully he will have better opponents than the ones he’s facing here, they are soft.

Bad day for the Nuggets

Yesterday was not the best of days for the high flying Nuggets. It was game one and they were ready to get things going in their best of seven series with the Lakers. Leaving 2 and half hours before tipoff, the Nuggets had high hopes but they’d soon be stranded on the side of the Santa Monica Freeway after their bus broke down and caught on fire. Thats not the type of pregame warmup Coach George Karl had in mind.

The bus left the team’s hotel about 2½ hours before tipoff as scheduled, but experienced problems about 15 minutes into the trip, club spokesman Eric Sebastian said. Players and staff had to wait on the Santa Monica Freeway.

“There was a pop, black smoke, there was another pop, more black smoke,” Sebastian said. “We rushed off the bus. We were standing on the side of the road.”

The Nuggets’ second bus, which left the team hotel about 30 minutes after the first one, stopped to pick up their teammates. The entire team made the rest of the trip to the arena, arriving about 90 minutes before game-time.

As if it’s not already hard enough to get to the Staples Center. Usually it’s traffic thats the problem and they probably had to deal with that too.

Once they arrived to the stadium they were greeted by boos from rabid Lakers fans and Pau Gasol didn’t do anything to make them feel anymore welcome either. He dropped 36 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had 8 assists. They couldn’t contain him or Kobe Bryant either for that matter. They held Kobe in check for the first 40 minutes of the game until Kobe decided to be Kobe and took over scoring 18 points in the final 8 minutes of the game to secure the victory for them.

So first their bus catches fire and they lose the game so why is Carmelo Anthony more angry than normal. Well see for yourself…

Anybody thats actually taken a ball to the face like that knows that hurts like hell. Maybe the Nuggets will have a better day on Wednesday when these two squads meet up again.

Fan fight at the Yankee game

So everyone knows that the Yankees and the Red Sox aren’t too fond of one another but this is kind of crazy.  At the Yankees/Red Sox game on 4/17 a fight broke out involving two fans of the opposing teams and it wasn’t pretty.

At first the Yankees fan was winning.  Until he got thrown off the side of the balcony.
