Rays Coach humps chair: This will be the highlight of the Rays season

So there is so much fun on opening day of Major League Baseball.  One Tampa Bay Rays coach had a lot more fun than most.  Someone caught him having his way with a chair and they way he was looking at the coach sitting next to him was oh so seductive… ugh… I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

George Bush booed at Nationals home opener: the truth hurts don’t it?

So yesterday was opening day around the Major league. The Nationals played their home opener against the Braves and to throw out the first pitch they had our President George W. Bush. He didn’t get such a warm reception though, maybe they are mad about the looming recession? Maybe it’s the BS war? Maybe it’s the high gas prices? Or maybe it’s just the fact that he’s an idiot? Here goes..

Inside Andrew Bynum’s rehab: Watch out for the Lakers

Usually as fans we don’t get to see the actual hard work that goes into rehabing a professional athlete.  Good thing for us that Andrew Bynum let us see what he’s doing to get back.  He plans on being back before the playoffs but we will see how soon that is.  Either way, you can see that he is working hard to get back.

Ridiculous pass By Kobe

Kobe Bryant did about all he could do in last nights game. He scored 53 points and had this sick pass but the Lakers still lost… to the Grizzlies. All the sudden they can’t beat the NBA’s worst teams. Oh well, great pass though.

John Mayer knows nothing about baseball: “And… THAT happened!!!”

So this just goes to show you that just because you are a celeb or something, it doesn’t mean that you should be calling games. Just ask Dirk Nowitzki.

Anyway, John Mayer was sitting behind home plate for some play by play analysis for the Red Sox/A’s series in Tokyo. Now I guess this is better than his blog but even so I hope he was attempting to be funny because he completely massacred Dustin Pedroia’s name and he used what will now be the quote of the day for me…. “And… THAT happened!!!”

Oden playing pickup games: Blazers are pissed

oden.jpg

So recently there have been a lot of rumors that Greg Oden played two pick up games at a local 24 hour fitness center.

Well yesterday Greg Oden admited that he not only played but he dominated the game, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The Blazers weren’t impressed though. “We heard about that, and I talked to him today,” coach Nate McMillan said. “I let him know he can’t do that.”

I love Greg Oden so far and he hasn’t even played a game in the league yet, but this was just stupid. He should’ve known his team would find out about it and of course they wouldn’t be happy with millions invested in him.

Richard Jefferson doesn’t miss Jason Kidd: “Kidd held us back”

richard_jefferson.jpgAccording to Richard Jefferson, the Jason Kidd situation held the team back. The NY daily news reported today that RJ confirmed what everyone who followed the Nets already knew. Jason Kidd was very unhappy with his situation in New Jersey and he wanted out.

Jason Kidd didn’t make it public that he wanted to be traded until January and he still performed well, continuing to produce triple double after triple double but the situation deteriorated. Jason Kidd finally made it public that he wanted out when the team lost their 9th straight game. I would want out too.

Jason Kidd was actually granted his wish last month with his trade to the Mavericks but many people are questioning the deal. The team hasn’t beaten any teams with a winning record since and with the loss of Dirk Nowitzki, they might fuck around and not even make the playoffs in the West.

NBA Wrap: Nene > Cancer.. Nuggets > Mavs, Pistons clinch the central, Jackson helps Warriors past Blazers

iverson_080327.jpgMavericks 105 – Nuggets 118

Last night was a very good night for Nugget country. First Nene returned after a bout with cancer then they finished the game with a 118-105 win over the Mavs.

Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Nuggets scoring 32 points. Allen Iverson added 31 points to the effort to help the Nuggets get their fourth straight win.

Nene came in with less than 2 minutes to go when the game was already iced. He got a standing ovation and it was definitely a feel good moment. Usually when I say things like this I’m being sarcastic but really, it’s good for him.

Blazers 95 – Warriors 111

The Warriors are fighting for a playoff spot and the Blazers are all but out of it and shorthanded. Coach Donnie Nelson probably thought this was going to be an easy game just like the rest of us. His team gave him a bit of a scare in the first quarter but he made sure to take care of that.

The Warriors fell behind by 14 points just 9 minutes into the game and Nellie let them have it.

“The last thing I want to do is start yelling and screaming too much,” Nelson said. “That was an exception. I thought they needed it. We got that out of the way. I hope they didn’t put it on TV. I was miked tonight, but I don’t think they could have put that one on.”

They got the message though. They came back behind Stephen Jackson’s 24 points to get the crucial 111-95 win. It was crucial for them to get this one because right now they are a half game behind Dallas for 7th in the West and a half game ahead of the Nuggets for the 8th spot. Guess who their next two opponents are? Denver tomorrow and Dallas on Sunday. Don’t you just love the Western conference?

Heat 69 – Pistons 85

The Pistons were shorthanded against the Heat last night but it really doesn’t matter does it? They were playing the Heat. Arron Afflalo replaced the injured Rip Hamilton in this one and the Heat defense forgot about him. He scored 15 points which is a career high for the yungun and played his normal stifling defense to help the Pistons get the 85-69 win.

This win clinches the Central division for the Pistons. They have won the division four years in a row and 6 of the last 7 years. Yeah, nobody in that division is messin with them so far this century.

Charles Barkley hates Mike Mathis: Barkley doesn’t love all the refs

So after the Charles Barkley/Dick Bavetta race and kiss from a few years ago, you’d think that since Charles Barkley was retired and no longer getting bad calls against him that he would’ve buried the hatchett on any ill feelings that he has against any NBA refs. Well think again.
