Ok so I am a Duke fan, always have been and honestly I feel kind of bad for not only posting this but also finding it hilarious.  Anyways, apparently during the Duke game the other night, the Mascot tried people surfing and afterwards he jumped off but he sprained his knee.  Now this jump was no more than a foot off the ground, how he managed to do this, I have no idea

I guess the Knicks are just taking turns making bonehead plays.  They’ve obviously given up on this season just like everyone else has and instead of playing hard and trying to finish the season, they decided that it would be much more fun to make plays where they try to show off but just end up looking like idiots.

Jamal Crawford acts like he is a point guard on this one, he sees himself open, tries to get the ball to himself but somehow messes up the play but theres good news from Jamal, he plays on the knicks so plays like this will probably get him a long term contract.

Ok so of course I have no idea what it’s like in an NBA locker room but when you make a big trade a new player is going to make his debut, I’d think that the players would know about it but apparently not.  Devin Harris came off the bench last night to score 21 for the Nets in his debut and Vince Carter had no idea, honestly from the looks of his reaction, I don’t even know if he knows that Jason Kidd was traded yet but it is what it is.

Spurs 97 – Mavericks 94

Tim Duncan led the way for the Spurs against the new look Mavs. This was the Mavs first game against a team with a winning record since the trade for Jason Kidd. They looked pretty good in this Texas showdown, going back and fourth with the NBA champions before the champs finally went up for good at the end of the fourth.

Tim Duncan finished with a game high 31 points and 15 rebounds. Jason Kidd had just 7 points but also added 10 assists and 4 rebounds.

Lakers 106 – Heat 88

This was a game between two teams that are going in two different directions.  Two teams that have traded Shaq away after winning titles with him. 

The Lakers have now won 10 straight games after their 106-88 win over the Heat.  The Lakers were lead by Jordan Farmar who had 24 points which is a career high.  Kobe Bryant scored 21 points with 8 assists.

Nets 120 – Bucks 106

Devin Harris lead the way for the Nets in his debut as a New Jersey Net.   Harris scored 16 of his 21 points in an early spurt and the Bucks were never really able to recover.  The Nets went on to win, 120-106 over the Bucks.

Ok so I will definitely be changing the theme of SportFiends today.  I will be working on it as much as I can at work and then later on home.  When I’m done I would like some feedback.  Thanks.

Oilers 4 – Red Wings 3

When it comes to shootouts, theres no one better than the Oilers. Robert Nilsson scored the only goal in their shootout victory over the Red Wings in their 4-3 victory last night. This win gave their an NHL record 13th shootout win of the season.

“It’s always nice to have a positive record, but it is all about winning games,” Oilers goalie Mathieu Garon said. “Those shootout wins have been huge for us because almost half of our wins have come that way.”

Avalanche 3 – Flames 2

Down 2-1 in the third period is not a good position to be in. The Avs didn’t seem to worry much about it last night though. Paul Stastny set up the tying goal with an assist to Milan Hejduk the 13:33 minute mark.

The game went to overtime and Stastny came up with the game winner on a powerplay.

“He saw me and he made a good play and I tapped her in,” said Stastny. “It’s always big, especially when you are down a goal in the third. We’ve got to enjoy this one and be ready because we play Vancouver tomorrow.”

• Chris Higgins had two goals and an assist as the Montreal Canadiens scored four times in the first half of the third period in a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.
• David Krejci scored his first NHL goal, and Tim Thomas stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season to lead the Boston Bruins to their fourth consecutive win, a 4-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators.
• Brooks Laich had two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Washington Capitals to a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
• Evgeni Malkin and Jeff Taffe score first-period goals for trade-depleted Pittsburgh, providing early offense for the Penguins in a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders.
• Sergei Samsonov scored two goals, tapping in his own rebound with 3:24 left in overtime to lift Carolina past the Devils 2-1 and snap their five-game winning streak.
• Eriksson scored two goals as Dallas rallied from a third-period deficit to beat the St. Louis Blues 3-1.

Rockets 94 – Wizards 69

So yesterday the Rockets got the devastating news that their star Yao Ming would be out for the rest of the season and they were doing so well too.  I’m starting to think that someone must have put a hex on them.

Last nights game was their first game Yao-less but they didn’t need him to beatdown the Wizards at home last night 94-69. 

Luther Head led the way for the Rockets by scoring 18 points.  Luis Scola had 14 points, Rafer Alston had 13 points and Tracy McGrady had 11.

• Shawn Marion scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting, Udonis Haslem added 17 and the Miami Heat used a huge third quarter to beat the Sacramento Kings 107-86 and snap an 11-game losing streak.
• Hedo Turkoglu scored 17 his 25 points in the fourth quarter and the Magic won their third straight game, 102-92 over the Nets.
• Michael Redd hit a game-winning 3-pointer as the final horn sounded, giving the Milwaukee Bucks a 105-102 victory over the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers.
• Al Jefferson and Rashad McCants scored 22 points, Randy Foye added a season-high 20, and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 111-100.
• Steve Nash had 25 points and 13 assists and Shaquille O’Neal added 13 points to go along with 11 rebounds, leading the Phoenix Suns to a 127-113 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
• Monta Ellis scored 30 points, Austin Croshere added 14 in the decisive third quarter without missing a shot, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Seattle SuperSonics 105-99 for their fifth win in seven games.
• Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and the Lakers beat Portland 96-83 for their ninth straight victory.

After hearing about Kevin Faulk catching a summons at a Lil Wayne show, I had three questions

Can anyone tell me:

a.  why Kevin Faulk wouldn’t have a flunky on his payroll to serve as his weed carrier to take the fall in situations like this?

b.  if four marijuana cigarettes are considered medicinal use?

c.  how can lil Wayne put on a concert when he has no songs, only guest spots on other artists songs?

I wonder how the “we always do things the Patriot way” Pats will deal with this story.
